All done April

April brought many new things for Nolan.  I knew i really wanted to have him in a big boy bed and potty trained before the new baby arrives so why not just jam it all in the same month?  Well, looking back, i can say that maybe it wasn't the greatest idea and maybe he wasn't quite ready for potty training but it all came together and i am truly proud of how he handled it all.  Me? Not so proud of myself at times ;)  Nolan did really well in his big bed.  He still doesn't get out of his bed until you tell him he can come out. I know that will end eventually but for now he is listening really good.  Potty training is the hardest thing to test my patience so far with being a mom.  Since you have almost zero control over any of it.  You are mostly at the mercy of your kid eventually catching on and hoping you find a way to help them that doesn't drag out for months or even years!  We went cold turkey "no more diapers" on April 25 and there has been no looking back since.  Way to go Nolan!  We are so proud of the little boy you have become!
The other highlights of April...hockey finally ended!  It was sad to see the Canucks not make it past the first round of playoffs but i must admit that it is nice to not have to watch ALL the time :)  Plus the weather started to get nicer and it is so great to be able to let Nolan play outside on the deck or have him outside in the evening when Grant is working on the yard or working in his trailer.  Nolan was thrilled to be able to help daddy drill, saw and screw all sorts of things.
Oh and i guess there was also the small detail that i turned 30!  It wasn't a big dramatic event.  I told Grant i didn't really want to have a party or anything like that.  I just wanted to go out for a nice dinner and if he surprised me with a gift then that would be ok too ;)  Well, i got my wish!  We did go out for a very nice dinner&dessert in Vancouver, he surprised me with gifts & Nolan (Grant) even remembered my favourite chocolates.  I felt really loved :)  My friend Kristin and I also went for our annual birthday pedicures.  We had a really great time laughing, chatting and having our feet pampered.  I appreciate being 30 and i can't wait to see what the next 10 years are like!

What a stylish little guy you have there! His playground outfits are the bomb. I'm really going to miss hanging out when I head west(er)!
