There is no doubt that Nolan has developed his own ways to move around. He never did the traditional "crawl". He went from dragging his body around on the floor with his hands & arms to "butt scootching" his way all over the place. The kid is soooo fast with one arm out as his balancer. People are always impressed with how well he gets around, even without walking. All this time we've been waiting and waiting and waiting for him to take his first steps. He just didn't seem to have any interesting in walking at all. He simply refused to even try. Sure he'd take the occasional step and he could definitely scale the couch, climb up & down the stairs and push his walking toys. But anytime you would acknowledge that he had done good or you would try to coax him along...plop...he'd fall right back down on his butt and scoot scoot scoot. Stubborn little guy, lol! With his abilities intact, i thought maybe he was walking but only when we weren't looking.
Tuesday we had a toddler birthday party to go to and i knew that he would be around a bunch of walkers. He didn't seem to care. He played and scooted just like he always does. After his afternoon nap he was playing in the living room. I went to his room to grab his laundry and when i walked back into the living room...i caught him walking! He had such a silly grin on his face. He was so proud of himself and so was I! He had no idea i was even watching him. I couldn't help myself and i beamed and told him how good of job he had done. Of course he sat right down but that wasn't the end. Ever since, he has been practicing his walking all over the house. He still scoots too because it is what he is used to and he is so fast at it. But everyday his walking is better and better. I love hearing his little pitter patter feet on the floor and he still beams while he is walking. Good Job Baber!!!
This first video is a reminder of how he started moving...i forgot how much he grunted, lol
This is some of his earlier on scootching...he is much faster now
