This past week i had the honour of creating another diaper cake. That makes 6 cakes so far. I still really enjoy creating these little gifts for mommy & baby. Each one is so different and yet so similar. When mommy Laura gave me the idea for orange & teal, i have to admit my first reaction was...ok? I do love both colours but i wasn't sure how i was going to put them together. So i started dreaming and dreaming and then browsing craft stores, fabric shops and good ol' Walmart for ribbon, paper, lace & embellishments galore! This was my first time using fabric lace for my design and i really love the outcome. Who knew my local fabric store would now be my new 'one stop shop'? They even have ribbon by the meter! So needless to say, i bought my 3 year membership right away and now i'm set. So friends...start having more babies! Lol (just kidding) Right now i only have one more diaper cake scheduled to be made.
Anyway, back to this creation...i am thrilled with the final product. I wanted to keep a more 'vintage' feel since that is what i imagined with these colours. You'll notice the little orange booties! They are just gorgeous! A good friend, Nicole Dawes, knitted these adorable booties and matching teddy ear hat (sadly, i forgot to take a photo of the hat). I just love the booties so much and think they added the perfect touch to this cake. All the mommies at the shower i hosted were oohing and aahing over these things. So watch out Nicole, you might have some orders coming your way ;)
This cake was created for mommy Laura & baby Sasha. Laura is such a dear friend. One of those people you feel like you've known forever and you can completely be yourself around. Just such a blessing! I look forward to many mommy dates ;) Oh and baby Sasha is just the cutest little bean. I've had a few snuggles already and i can hardly wait for my next!
