Ah yes, so the second of two weekends in Whistler. We were privileged to have some of our family join us for a two night stay at Evolution Resort. The 6.5 of us all packed into one vehicle for the two hour trek. Nolan and I shared the third row seating, everyone packed really light, some good tunes and a Starbucks run...we were on our way!
We survived the drive. Ending up at our resort about 5-6 hours before check-in. The resort was accommodating and allowed us to get into our rooms right away. A few minutes later, they had brought us a playpen and a highchair for Nolan. We grabbed a bite to eat and then tossed Nolan down for a nap. Next came some reading/chatting out on the sun deck ;)
Our first night we hit up a classic BBQ joint in Creekside. Its basically an order yourself, seat yourself, serve yourself and clean up after yourself kinda place...what did i pay for??? That said, it filled our bellies and was within walking distance of our resort. We were ready for some relaxing. The guys hit up a movie in the resort theatre and us ladies took in an old time fav movie...Dirty Dancing! Thanks for bringing it along Melissa!
The next morning we went back to Crepe Montage for brunch. After thoroughly enjoying ourselves the weekend before, we knew we had to revisit with the family. With bellies full again, we headed into Whistler Village for a stroll.
After a run in with Tweedledee & Tweedledum, we decided to head back to our neck of the woods for some more relaxing. We had brought along food for making our own supper, so we hit up the pool area BBQ and grilled up some ribs. We made one or two visits to the local market for ice cream and a movie. Believe it or not, Whistler (Creekside) does not have a movie rental store. They only sell a small selection of movies from the market. We scarfed down our ice cream (the whole pail) while all squeezed into our suite for the movie so Nolan could go to bed.
Monday morning rolled around and it was time for check-out. We packed ourselves up and headed over to the local diner (a.k.a. the greasy spoon) for our last meal in Creekside. Greeted by our ever so friendly waitress (ummm, insert sarcasm here) we ordered a variety of breakfast/lunch treats. After stuffing our faces yet again, we drove into Whistler Village to take in the Peak 2 Peak Experience. Nolan almost didn't make it onto the chair lift. It seems as though they had just implemented a new rule the day before that children had to be able to walk, in order to ride. I am not sure why they let us on, but they conversed amongst themselves for a minute and we were off! And up and up and up we went! The air was chilled. The sun was extra potent. I think we all got a little extra colour on our faces. We eventually made our way back down the mountain, after a little sightseeing & gelato. Shortly after we were snuggled in for our drive home. We had such a great time catching up and just relaxing with our family. Let's do this again, soon!
